A tongue in cheek, interactive evening showcasing 5 brand-new spoken word pieces by 5 exceptional writer/performers, inspired by OperaUpClose’s radically reimagined version of Puccini’s raucous, comic opera, Gianni Schicchi or Where There’s A Will.

Combining our skills and experience in music and words, OperaUpClose and ArtfulScribe are trialing a new creative approach by offering 5 micro-commissions to selected writers. Inspired by and responding to the first stage of Research & Development for Gianni Schicchi or Where There’s A Will, these micro-commissions will be presented as 3-5 minute script-in-hand performances in the world’s first OperaSlam.
