Our Youth Theatre groups give young people the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people, and work with experienced theatre practitioners in a fun, supportive and inclusive environment.

Here at Mayflower Youth Theatre, we have multiple group offerings whether you’re interested in developing your acting, dancing, singing or general theatre and stagecraft skills. There is something here for everyone whether you want to make new friends, have fun or become a professional in the industry.

Mayflower Junior Youth Theatre
Academic years 3-6

An introduction to the three disciplines of acting, singing and dance. This is an opportunity to explore theatre in a safe and fun environment whilst developing communication and teamwork skills. Discover more…

Mayflower Drama Youth Theatre
Academic years 7-9 and 10-13

Key skills: Drama, theatre, and stagecraft with play opportunities.
Explore theatre and drama whilst gaining valuable skills including confidence and problem solving. Mayflower Drama Youth Theatre is a place young people can make new friends, explore themselves and the world around them in a safe and encouraging environment.

Mayflower Musical Youth Theatre
Academic years 7-9 and 10-13

Key skills: Acting, Singing and Dance with Musical Theatre opportunities.
Mayflower Musical Youth Theatre is a place where you can express yourself in a fun, safe environment whilst developing performance skills through workshops, audition preparation and productions.

(Please note: Due to our upcoming production in February, Mayflower Musical Youth Theatre will be merging those in years 10 – 13 into one group.)

Youth Theatre members are given the opportunity to perform in Youth Theatre productions and at various events throughout the year. Recent productions include, ‘A Chorus Line‘, ‘Stop the Traffik‘, a newly commissioned ‘Destroy The Precious Things‘, National Theatre Connections: The Periodicals and performances at Mela Festival, and Youth Theatre Lates.

Mayflower Youth Theatre is for all young people, and we offer a bursary scheme to enable everyone to take part. Our bursaries cover half the cost of the standard fee, and support those who would otherwise be unable to attend. If you wish to apply for one of our part-funded places, please complete our Bursary Application form.

We also offer FREE taster sessions which you can book by calling the Box Office on 02380 711811.

  • Weekly sessions during term-time
  • Performance opportunities
  • Show trips to productions at MAST Mayflower Studios and Mayflower Theatre
  • Advance notice of new term booking information
  • A Youth Theatre t-shirt

Payment

Costs range from £105 – £180 depending on the group, please see below price bands. Bursaries are available for those who qualify.

Youth Theatre groups

Musical Groups: Academic years 7-9 and 10-13

The fee for each term is £180 (bursaries are available – see below) and should either be paid in full before the start of term or in three instalments.
Sibling Discount: £165
Bursary: £90

Payments can be paid in full for the whole term by 23 September or you can select a payment plan. This will give you the option to pay in three instalments of £60.

If you are paying in instalments and wish to secure your place you must contact us to confirm this.

Exclusive offer: Save £60 by joining both drama and musical theatre groups for only £240.00.

Drama Groups 5 & 9: Academic years 7-9 and 10-13

The fee for each term is £120 (bursaries are available – see below) and should either be paid in full before the start of term or in three instalments.
Sibling Discount: £105
Bursary: £60

Payments can be paid in full for the whole term by 23 September or you can select a payment plan. This will give you the option to pay in three instalments of £40.

If you are paying in instalments and wish to secure your place you must contact us to confirm this.

Bursaries

There are a limited number of bursaries available each term. These must be applied for on a termly basis and are not guaranteed for the whole year. These can be awarded on a financial or talent basis.

Applicants applying for a bursary should complete their application before term starting accompanied by the first instalment. You will be notified by the beginning of term whether your application has been successful.

Production Arts

We are excited to announce the return of Production Arts!

Production arts is an application based group of young people in academic years 12 – 13 exploring the different elements of backstage. This off-stage opportunity provides the chance to learn new skills and apply them in professional settings with industry experts.

Our Mayflower Youth Theatre groups are extremely popular and sell out fast. We operate a waiting list for groups that are at maximum capacity.

Waiting List

Please note: New spaces in the group will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.
Booking a place on the waiting list does not guarantee a space in the group.
