Celebrating Refugee Week:
Films on the powerful theme of 'Our Home'
Event details
Presenting three short films on the theme of ‘Our Home’. Each story of migration to the UK is different, but every person arriving shares feelings of loss and fragmentation; while hopes of building a life here can coexist with the desire to return home.
‘My Fair Share Too’, a film by World Stages Now, explores the experience of living where your heritage can make the process of belonging hard.
‘I Carry It With Me Everywhere’, dir. Arwa Aburawa and Turab Shah, looks at multiple experiences of immigrant life, uniting stories of migration from the Punjab, Syria and Jamaica.
With exclusive access to one of the world’s largest communities of North Korean defectors, ‘Little Pyongyang’, dir. Roxy Rezvany, is a tale of the struggle of one North Korean living in London to leave behind his homeland, the tension lying in his desire to return to the land that betrayed him.
