Come and experience the secrets of the Theatre before it comes alive with a show.

Hear about the history of The Mayflower and find out what makes it so distinctive, both for Southampton and nationally. Discover the beautiful architecture and our unique standing boxes, which make the Theatre a listed building of architectural importance. Enjoy the specially commissioned short film, full of interviews and memories from local patrons, west end stars and the biggest theatrical producers around.

Unlike other theatres that employ actors to read a script, our expert guides also work here. This gives them a special relationship with the Theatre, enabling them to share the real workings of The Mayflower with you.

Get the chance to go backstage at the Theatre and the new state of the art ‘get-in’ facilities (completed in summer 2010). You may also explore the dressing room area and glimpse a view from the wings.

10:00 am prompt start (arrive at Box Office 09:45).
Tour content may be changed subject to Touring Company requirements
If you are late and the tour has already started, you will be offered the next available date.
Tours may be cancelled due to unforeseen technical difficulties in the Theatre. If this occurs you will be offered the next available date.
Tours must be booked in advance.
There are some areas not accessible for wheelchairs. Please contact tours@mayflower.org.uk for further details of this.
Minimum charge for private groups.
Refreshments can be made available by prior request at a charge.
